Spanish is an increasingly popular subject choice amongst pupils at Lathallan as they seek to grow and develop their grasp of Modern Languages.

Pupils are given an introduction to Spanish in the Junior School before this is developed further in S1 & S2 with both Spanish and French integral parts of Lathallan School curriculum.

Pupils learn about basic introductions, family, jobs and nationalities amongst a range of different Spanish topic areas as they develop a flair for language ahead of further study at Nat 5 or Higher level.

We use a range of engaging and interactive methods for pupils to enhance their Modern Language skills with pupils encouraged to supplement their skills with independent study on Apps such as Duolingo, learning Spanish songs and taking part in events such as the Our World 2018 languages day featured in the video below.

As pupils progress onto Nat 5 and Higher level they solidify their understanding of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing Spanish.

Advanced Higher Spanish is also available for pupils wishing to develop their skills further to pursue a career in Modern Languages beyond Lathallan.
