Pastoral Care

Lathallan takes its pastoral care responsibilities very seriously and prides itself on its warm and friendly environment.

With our enviable student-to-tutor ratio, Lathallan can ensure that all pupils are known to staff and concerns are quickly observed and addressed by the pastoral care team who meet weekly to ensure pupil concerns are discussed and support can be put in place by the PCS team.

Lathallan prides itself on being a warm and friendly environment

Our PCS Team consists of:
Miss Nicola Orr - Child Protection Coordinator and Head of Pastoral Care.
Mrs Rhona Anderson - School Nurse and Depute Child Protection Coordinator.
Mr Jason Currie - Depute Head of Senior School.
Mrs Jackie Collins - Acting Head of Junior School and Junior Pastoral Care.
Mr Len Wiltshire - Pastoral Support teacher, Music teacher and Learning Support teacher.
Mr Jonee Mackel - Learning Support teacher.

We cover a range of topics in PSHE including Mental and Emotional Wellbeing, Substance Misuse, Careers and Future planning, Relationships and Bullying, Food, Health and Nutrition, Sexual Health, Relationships and Parenthood, Children's Rights, Internet Safety, Finance and Skills for Learning, Life and Work

We also encourage pupils to take part in a range of fun tutor challenges (seen in the videos below), with winning teams given the chance to choose lunch for the whole school on a Friday.

The challenges are designed to encourage tutors and pupils to build positive relationships whilst working together to achieve a common goal.

Many challenges are also themed to highlight events in the calendar or moments in history or to encourage pupils to work on a particular skill.

This year the many varied challenges have included 'Introduce Us To Your Tutor Group', making Remembrance poppies out of recycled plastic, a 'New Year Traditions From Around The World' quiz and creating a music video that promotes positive mental health.

Every young person is different and some will respond better when they can find advice and support themselves. In PSHE and through conversations with individuals we can highlight places to find extra advice.
