History

In History at Lathallan we encourage all pupils to develop a passion for the past while developing their broad understanding of the narrative and themes of the varied topics we cover.

We challenge pupils to maintain high academic standards while growing not only as historians but as members of humane, tolerant, liberal and democractic society.

In S1 and S2 we cover a wide range of historical events such as Bannockburn and the Battle of Stirling Bridge to Titanic, The Black Death, Nazi Germany, The Russian Revolution and USA 1919-1932.

To develop pupils' knowledge base further, we are also offer optional trips such as one to Berlin in December 2019, which will take in many of the historical sites of pre and post-War Germany.

In Nat 5, we cover modules such as Emigration and Empire, The Slave Trade and The Cold War (as seen in the video below) while Higher pupils build on their skills learned in S3 and S4 as they cover Britain 1851-1951 and Germany 1815-1939.

We also offer Advanced Higher History where we cover Germany in more detail through a Democracy to Dictatorship 1918-1939 module.
