In Business Management, we challenge and inspire our pupils to become young entrepreneurs and to be socially enterprising, with a keen understanding of the importance of a successful local business to its local community.
In Nat 5, pupils will cover three main topic areas - Understanding Business, Management of People and Finance and Management of Marketing and Operations.
Pupils make a number of external visits to both large and small businesses to grasp an understanding of the various types of organisations such as commercial, consumer, charitable and community social enterprises.
Pupils then learn about the operations side of a business and the importance of managing both people and finance to ensure its' long-term sustainability.
Finally, pupils study promotion and marketing, through positive communication and consistent branding.

The Business Management department has been pivotal in the formation of a number of businesses, including Pipers' Coffee Shop - a pupil-led social enterprise which has successfully offered barista training to over 100 students and donated around £20,000 to local charities.
Lathallan also inspired a former pupil to start a family jam-making business which is now a supplier to Glamis Castle and a number of hotels.
Business Management is available at Higher and Advanced Higher level where learners deepen their knowledge base of Understanding Business, Management of People and Finance and the Management of Marketing and Operations.
